Walker Adds Three New Transfers for 2024 Season
Creighton women’s soccer head coach Jimmy Walker strengthened the 2024 signing class on Tuesday, June 4, by bringing in Oklahoma transfer Kelis Brown, Ole Miss transfer Ella Luna, and Louisville transfer Alyssa Zalac.
“We are thrilled to welcome Kelis, Ella, and Alyssa to Creighton,” said Walker. “All three are highly skilled players with extensive experience at a high level, and they will bring both quality and character to our team. Their alignment with our culture is equally important.”
Kelis Brown:
Brown, a midfielder from New Albany, Ohio, joins Creighton after three seasons at Oklahoma. During her time with the Sooners, she appeared in 22 matches, taking 15 shots over 749 minutes on the field. She recorded an assist in her first career start against Arkansas in 2022. Academically, Brown excelled, earning a spot on the Fall Academic All-Big 12 Team twice with a perfect 4.0 GPA.
“Kelis is a player I’ve known for a long time due to my Ohio connections,” said Walker. “I’ve watched her since high school, where she was always a hardworking, talented, and creative player. Kelis will add depth and experience to our midfield and is well-prepared to compete in the Big East. Her background and experience will also positively impact our team culture.”
A New Albany High School graduate, Brown helped her team achieve 38 victories and reach three OHSAA Division I District Finals. She scored 36 goals and provided 40 assists, earning multiple honors including First Team All-Ohio Capital Conference and First Team All-Central District Division I. Additionally, she played for Ohio Premier Soccer Club ECNL, scoring two goals in eight games.
Ella Luna:
Originally from Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Luna has three years of eligibility remaining after one season at Ole Miss. The freshman midfielder played in 14 matches, totaling 293 minutes and four shots.
“We are excited about Ella; she has a great soccer IQ,” said Walker. “I’ve been a fan since her club soccer days in Wisconsin, and I’m glad to coach her this fall. Ella is a creative, technical player with good endurance and quality. Her experience in the SEC will help her compete in the Big East.”
Luna graduated from Whitefish Bay High School, where she led her team to a perfect 20-0-0 season and a WIAA Division II State Championship as a junior, scoring nine goals and assisting eight times. She also played for SC Wave, winning the Wisconsin State Cup five times and achieving regional success.
Alyssa Zalac:
Hailing from Montreal, Canada, Zalac comes to Creighton after two seasons with Louisville following a redshirt year at Ole Miss in 2021. Before Ole Miss, she played at Vanier College, although her team didn’t compete due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Despite not yet playing at the collegiate level, Zalac brings valuable experience and athleticism to the goalkeeping group.
“Alyssa is a fantastic addition,” said Walker. “She will add depth and experience to our goalkeeper position, having competed in the ACC with Louisville. Alyssa is a talented goalkeeper with good size and athleticism, and her ability to play with her feet offers great options for building out of the back. She will also contribute leadership to our team culture.”
Prior to Vanier College, Zalac played for Lakeshore Soccer Club in Kirkland, Quebec, leading them to Provincial championships and national silver medals in 2018 and 2019. She was awarded the 2018 LSEQ Golden Glove award, recognizing the best goalkeeper in Quebec.
