Bears’ Top Trade Targets to Complete Their 2024 Roster…

The Chicago Bears are generating a lot of buzz as they head into the next season. Despite finishing last in the NFC North with a 7-10 record, there’s renewed optimism thanks to a significant roster change. Last season, Justin Fields struggled as the starting quarterback, leading to his trade to the Pittsburgh Steelers. This opened the door for the Bears to draft a new quarterback.

In the recent NFL Draft, held in Detroit, the Bears used their first overall pick to select USC quarterback Caleb Williams. Williams, who had an outstanding college career, is expected to be a game-changer for the Bears. He excelled at both Oklahoma and USC, winning the Heisman Trophy in 2022. That season, he threw for 4,537 yards, 42 touchdowns, and only five interceptions, leading USC to an 11-1 regular season. Although the following season wasn’t as stellar for USC, Williams still posted impressive stats with 3,633 passing yards, 30 touchdowns, and five interceptions.

Williams’ success hinges not just on his performance but also on the support he receives from the rest of the team. Recognizing this, the Bears drafted wide receiver Rome Odunze from Washington in the early first round to give Williams a reliable target. Odunze played a key role in leading Washington to the national championship game and is expected to form a strong connection with Williams.

While the draft has bolstered the Bears’ roster, the offseason is far from over. The team still needs to address gaps, particularly on defense, to ensure a well-rounded squad. Here are two key trade targets the Bears should consider to strengthen their team:

 Amari Cooper, WR, Cleveland Browns

Amari Cooper, a seasoned wide receiver with nine NFL seasons under his belt, could be a valuable addition to the Bears. Starting his career with the Oakland Raiders, Cooper has consistently delivered, surpassing 1,000 receiving yards in six of his nine seasons. Last year, he recorded a career-high 1,250 receiving yards with the Browns. Adding Cooper would provide Caleb Williams with an experienced and reliable receiver, enhancing the Bears’ offensive capabilities.

Maxx Crosby, DE, Las Vegas Raiders

To avoid a repeat of USC’s struggles with a weak defense, the Bears should consider acquiring Maxx Crosby, one of the NFL’s top defensive ends. Crosby had an impressive season with 90 tackles, 14.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. Although trading for Crosby might be ambitious, rumors suggest he might be open to a move. His addition would significantly bolster the Bears’ defense, balancing their efforts on both sides of the ball.

The Bears are entering an exciting phase, with promising new talent and potential trades that could transform their fortunes. Fans have every reason to be hopeful as they look forward to the upcoming season.
