Former Springbok Coach Begins New Chapter in Ireland…

Former Springbok head coach Jacques Nienaber has commenced his new coaching role in Ireland, officially trading the Springbok green for Leinster blue.

Just a month after steering the Springboks to their second consecutive World Cup victory, Nienaber wasted no time in joining Leinster’s coaching staff, arriving in Dublin on Friday and diving into training on Monday.

Upon his introduction to the team, there was a respectful round of applause, with Leinster forwards coach Robin McBryde noting the lack of excessive fanfare.

McBryde shared insights into Nienaber’s immediate involvement at training, emphasizing his proactive approach. Nienaber has immersed himself in preparations, including language learning, demonstrating a commitment to quickly integrate into the coaching setup.

While potential system changes may be on the horizon, McBryde suggested that Nienaber is likely to take his time, having maintained regular communication with Leinster’s skills and interim defense coach, Seán O’Brien.

The coaching staff is eager to leverage Nienaber’s wealth of experience, particularly his recent success in securing two World Cup titles, creating an atmosphere where the team is receptive to absorbing insights from a proven and accomplished coach.
