Four promising Philadelphia Phillies prospects have been chosen to participate in the Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Game, aiming to make a lasting impression during the upcoming contest. MLB recently revealed the roster for the game, and it features outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr., right-handed pitcher Christian McGowan, second baseman Oliver Dunn, and right-handed pitcher Andrew Baker from the Phillies. Additionally, the Scottsdale Scorpions in the AFL, managed by Marty Malloy, who formerly led the Clearwater Threshers for the Phillies, will have representation.

Christian McGowan, a seventh-round pick in the 2021 draft by the Phillies, won’t be able to partake in the event despite being selected by the AFL staff, farm directors, and MLB.com writers. McGowan had Tommy John surgery in 2022 and played at four different levels in 2023, finishing with a 3.86 ERA, 10 walks, and 28 strikeouts in 25 2/3 innings. In his four appearances in the AFL, the 23-year-old right-handed pitcher has a record of 1-1 with a 3.71 ERA and a WHIP of 1.647.

Oliver Dunn, an unranked prospect in the Phillies’ farm system, had an outstanding season at Double-A Reading, with 21 home runs, a .271 batting average, 78 RBI, 16 stolen bases, 82 walks, and 139 strikeouts in 119 games. He led the entire Phillies organization with a 148 wRC+ during the regular season and has continued to impress in the Arizona Fall League, boasting a .362/.470/.652 slash line with six doubles, four triples, and two home runs in 83 plate appearances across 18 games. Dunn has also shown prowess on the defensive side.

Gabriel Rincones Jr., the ninth-ranked prospect for the Phillies in the AFL, has been demonstrating his skills in Arizona. Before joining the AFL, he split his time between High-A Jersey Shore and Single-A Clearwater, hitting .248 with 15 home runs, 60 RBI, 32 stolen bases, 61 walks, and 134 strikeouts in 120 games. In the AFL, Rincones has posted a .295/.427/.462 batting line with two home runs, 13 RBI, and 14 stolen bases in 21 games. The 22-year-old outfielder, who plays both right and left field, has also been selected for the AFL Home Run Derby.

Andrew Baker completes the Phillies’ contingent in the Fall Stars Game. Baker, a right-handed relief pitcher chosen in the 11th round of the 2021 draft, has been exceptional in the Arizona Fall League, despite not being ranked in the farm system. After a challenging season in Double-A Reading, where he struggled with an 8.12 ERA, Baker has turned things around in Arizona, delivering seven scoreless innings with one hit allowed, six walks, and 13 strikeouts. His impressive strikeout rate of 16.7 per nine innings has been highlighted by experts.

With four prospects selected, the Philadelphia Phillies have the highest representation from any team in the National League, showcasing the promise of their farm system and the bright future of the organization as a whole. To watch these Phillies prospects in action, tune in to MLB Network at 8 p.m. ET on Sunday for the Arizona Fall League Fall Stars Game.
