Sunderland latest updates from the training ground…

Despite suffering a disappointing 4-0 defeat at the hands of resurgent Middlesbrough before the international break, Sunderland has received encouraging updates from their training ground.

The team is preparing to face Stoke City at the Bet365 Stadium, aiming to bounce back from the heavy loss.

Head coach Tony Mowbray now has a more extensive selection of players to choose from, thanks to positive developments during training at the Academy of Light.

The Sunderland Echo has provided insights into the squad’s progress following the training session, where several first-team players have returned to action, gearing up for the upcoming match against Stoke City.

Summer signing Bradley Dack, who had been sidelined due to a hamstring issue since the previous international break, is back in training. Mowbray explained that they erred on the side of caution by keeping him out of play to ensure a complete recovery.

Additionally, Pierre Ekwah, absent for the past five matches due to a severe hematoma and a dead leg, is also making his return to training.

Both players could be fit to face Stoke City in nine days. Moreover, defender Dennis Cirkin and playmaker Alex Pritchard have been spotted training with the team.

The return of these four players represents a significant boost for both Mowbray and Sunderland. Each of them brings unique qualities and a wealth of talent to the team.

While Sunderland managed to secure decent results in their absence, having these key players back in training is a major morale booster for the manager as they approach the remaining fixtures leading up to the Christmas period.
