Breaking News ;Four Atlanta Braves on the Roster Bubble as the Trade Deadline comes…

As the MLB trade deadline inches closer, the Atlanta Braves—perennial contenders with championship aspirations—will be active in the market, looking to solidify their roster for a postseason push. While reinforcements are always welcome, roster spots are limited. That means a few current Braves could be on the bubble, whether due to underperformance, injury history, or the emergence of younger talent. Here are four Braves who could find themselves on the outside looking in by the time the deadline dust settles.

Grissom has long been seen as a high-upside piece for the Braves, but he’s yet to carve out a consistent role. With Orlando Arcia providing steady defense at shortstop and Ozzie Albies locked in at second base, Grissom’s opportunities have been scarce. His bat is still intriguing, but his defensive limitations and lack of a defined role could make him a prime trade chip—especially if Atlanta targets veteran bullpen or outfield help.

Once a bullpen stalwart, Minter has had an up-and-down 2024 season. While he still flashes elite stuff, inconsistency and command issues have raised concerns. With the Braves expected to be buyers, a struggling reliever—even one with Minter’s pedigree—could be expendable if the team looks to bring in a more stable late-inning option. His name might surprise fans on the trade block, but he could be part of a package to land a bigger fish.

Laureano joined the Braves as outfield depth, but his bat has been largely quiet and defensive metrics aren’t enough to justify a regular spot. With Michael Harris II and Ronald Acuña Jr. (if healthy) locked into the outfield and Jarred Kelenic emerging, Laureano could be the odd man out—especially if Atlanta acquires another right-handed bat. His modest contract and versatility might make him an attractive piece to another team needing veteran depth.

Vines is a promising arm who has seen some time with the big-league club, but with Atlanta deep in pitching prospects—and always shopping for established starters—it’s hard to see him holding onto his roster spot. Vines may still have upside, but if the Braves are looking for immediate impact, he could be included in a deal to sweeten a trade for a mid-rotation starter or back-end bullpen piece.

The Braves have one goal: another World Series ring. That often means making tough decisions with the roster. Whether it’s moving young talent to win now or trimming underperformers to make space, these four players may be wearing different uniforms—or packing for Triple-A—once the trade deadline passes. Expect aggressive, strategic moves from GM Alex Anthopoulos in the weeks ahead.
