Former Carlisle United Owner Has Been Honored With A Special Tittle By New Owners…

Andrew Jenkins has received an honorary title from Carlisle United in light of the recent Piatak takeover. The former owner, who served the club for 64 years, is now designated as the Chairman Emeritus.

The decision to confer this title on Jenkins stems from the Piatak family’s intention to recognize his extensive service and contributions to the club.

Tom Piatak, the new owner, emphasized the importance of acknowledging the club’s history and heritage, expressing gratitude for Jenkins’ role.

The move follows the recent ownership transition, where Jenkins and other owners sold the club to the Piatak family. Jenkins, who was a director since 1959, expressed gratitude for the title, stating his dedication to maintaining the club’s financial strength and league football presence.

The East Stand had already been named after Jenkins before the takeover, and it continues to be sponsored by Pioneer.

Despite no longer holding a directorial role, Jenkins’ legacy is hailed by the club’s chief executive, Nigel Clibbens, who described his contribution as immense and likely unparalleled in the current era of ownership changes.

Clibbens highlighted Jenkins’ pivotal financial support during challenging times, emphasizing the need to acknowledge his significant role in steering the club.

Jenkins’ dedication to the sport was evident during the first game under the Piataks, where he remained in the box during halftime, discussing football rather than dwelling on his own contributions or the future.

As Jenkins steps back from the responsibility, the club looks to a new era of ownership, but Clibbens emphasized the lasting impact of Jenkins’ support during crucial junctures in the club’s history.
