Seahawks Quarterback Set to Battle Through Injury Against 49ers in Crucial NFC Showdown…

Seahawks’ Geno Smith is anticipated to participate in the upcoming game against the San Francisco 49ers, despite concerns arising from an arm injury sustained during their recent loss to the Los Angeles Rams.

Although the timeframe is tight, Smith appears poised to push through a notable tricep bruise in this crucial Thanksgiving matchup, a game that could heavily influence the NFC West title race between the Seahawks and the 49ers.

In a press conference on Wednesday, head coach Pete Carroll affirmed that Smith is on track to play against San Francisco.

Carroll expressed confidence in Smith’s mindset, emphasizing that despite a visible bruise on the back of his triceps, the quarterback’s positive attitude has been unwavering. Smith, who continued full participation in practice, including refraining from throwing only in the initial days, is declared ready to take the field.

The decision for Smith to play despite his injury is undoubtedly a gamble, especially considering the formidable San Francisco defense, which generated 38 pressures in their recent victory over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, given the high stakes of the game and the potential consequences of a loss, the Seahawks seem willing to take this calculated risk.

A defeat would place the Seahawks two games behind the 49ers in the division standings, with challenging matchups against the Dallas Cowboys and Philadelphia Eagles on the horizon, as well as another road game against San Francisco. The presence of Smith, albeit not at the peak of his 2022 performance, is considered crucial to the Seahawks’ chances, especially when compared to backup quarterback Drew Lock, who struggled in his limited appearance during the Rams game.

While Smith is expected to play, running back Kenneth Walker III is likely to be sidelined due to an oblique injury. Right tackle Abe Lucas, listed as questionable with a knee issue, is also expected to miss the game. On a positive note, safety Jamal Adams (knee) and versatile defensive back Coby Bryant (toe) are no longer on the injury report and are ready for action.
