Joshua Kayode’s return to Carlisle United amid his recovery from a shoulder injury has been deemed a significant positive by manager Paul Simpson.
Currently undergoing rehabilitation at Brunton Park, Kayode aims to make a comeback next month. Simpson highlights the striker’s positive influence within the club, emphasizing Kayode’s upbeat personality.
Despite the setback caused by the injury early in his loan spell from Rotherham United, Carlisle is optimistic about his contribution in the latter part of the season. Simpson expresses satisfaction with Kayode’s progress, mentioning his scheduled consultant appointment on December 13 and the ongoing efforts to restore his shoulder mobility.
The manager appreciates Kayode’s positive attitude and eagerly anticipates his return to full fitness. The initial excitement surrounding Kayode’s season-long loan was dampened by the injury suffered in his debut game against Accrington Stanley.
Although he played in the subsequent match against Stevenage, further assessments revealed shoulder dislocation and ligament damage. This injury adds to Kayode’s previous struggles with knee and quad issues.
Despite these setbacks, Simpson looks forward to having Kayode back in action during the winter, foreseeing a crucial role for him in Carlisle’s League One survival bid. In the short term, the team expects Owen Moxon and Sean Maguire to be available after missing the recent Trophy win due to injury and illness, respectively.
Carlisle faces Charlton Athletic next Saturday, aiming for a positive performance. However, the team continues to be without long-term absentees Callum Guy, Taylor Charters, and Paul Huntington, with Jack Ellis in the recovery process and Jokull Andresson sidelined due to a shoulder injury.
