Colchester United Unveils Community Ambassadors for 2023/24 Season, Strengthening Commitment to Local Impact…

Colchester United has officially launched its Community Ambassadors for the upcoming 2023/24 Season, showcasing a strong commitment from the players to actively support the club’s Community Foundation.

This initiative follows the recent EFL Week of Action, where football clubs nationwide emphasized the significant impact they have on local communities through diverse and targeted community programs.

In the aftermath of the EFL Week of Action, Colchester United and the Colchester United Community Foundation proudly introduced their PFA Community Ambassadors for the upcoming season.

The players and management of Colchester United are dedicated to endorsing the impactful work carried out by the Community Foundation on a daily basis throughout North Essex.

Club Captain Connor Hall has voluntarily taken on the role of CUCF Community Ambassador, expressing the privilege he feels in representing the club in this capacity.

He sees it as an opportunity to set an example within the team and demonstrate the strong connection between the Community Foundation and Colchester United in both the club and the local community.

The Professional Footballer’s Association (PFA) plays a crucial role in supporting clubs and players across the country to engage with their local communities.

Through the Community Ambassadors program, Colchester United players have the chance to actively participate in this engagement.

Throughout the season, all members of the Colchester United first team, U21s, and U18s will be involved in positively impacting participants in various programs and members of the local community in Colchester and North Essex.

Three key areas of the Community Foundation’s work will be championed by specific Colchester United first team players:

  1. CUCF Education Ambassador – Will Greenidge: Will Greenidge expressed his pleasure at being named the Education Ambassador for the season, emphasizing the strong relationship between players and the community. He looks forward to playing a role in fostering this relationship throughout the season.
  2. CUCF Health & Inclusion Ambassador – John Akinde: John Akinde, in his new role as Health & Inclusion Ambassador, conveyed his excitement about promoting well-being for all and creating an inclusive environment where everyone feels comfortable and welcomed.
  3. CUCF Participation Ambassador – Fiacre Kelleher: Fiacre Kelleher expressed his delight at being the Participation Ambassador, highlighting the importance of getting involved in the local community, giving back to the people who support the team each week.
