Here are three concerning statistics from the Cincinnati Bengals’ Week 9 victory against the Buffalo Bills:
- Points off turnovers: Despite a promising interception by cornerback Cam Taylor-Britt in the second quarter, the Bengals’ offense failed to capitalize on this opportunity. They squandered a 3rd-and-1 situation with penalties and ended up punting, missing a chance to score. This issue may not have affected the outcome in this game, but as the season progresses and games become tighter, Cincinnati’s offense needs to make the most of defensive turnovers.

2. Sacks and QB hits allowed in the first half: In the first half, Joe Burrow faced significant pressure from the Bills’ defense, resulting in six QB hits and one sack. While Burrow performed admirably despite the hits, the offensive line needs to protect him better. The second half showed improvement in this regard, with only one QB hit credited to the Bills. The Bengals must work on reducing the number of hits on their star quarterback.

3. Lack of rushing yards: The Bengals’ running game continued to struggle, with only 54 rush yards in the game. While there were a few bright moments, such as long runs by Joe Mixon and Trayveon Williams, the overall production and consistency of the rushing attack remain a concern. As the weather gets colder and playoff scenarios emerge, Cincinnati’s offensive coaching staff must find ways to generate more ground game output to control the clock in the fourth quarter when necessary.

Although the Bengals secured a win, there are still areas where they need to improve, including their rushing attack and protecting their quarterback from hits. These challenges persist as the season progresses.
