Surprising Move by New Orleans Saints Ahead of Week 8 Clash with Colts
The New Orleans Saints are aiming to build momentum in their NFL Week 8 showdown against the Indianapolis Colts.
With a current record of 3-4, they find themselves tied for 3rd place in the NFC South. However, an unexpected development has cast a shadow of uncertainty as star receiver Michael Thomas falls ill.
This sudden twist raises doubts about Thomas’ availability for the upcoming game. He was unexpectedly added to the injury report with an ‘illness,’ leaving his status for Sunday’s matchup in question, as reported by Ari Meirov.
Thomas, a seasoned receiver, has accumulated 371 yards and 1 touchdown on 34 receptions in the current season. The Saints hope for a swift recovery on his part.
In the interim, New Orleans will lean on Chris Olave to shoulder a greater share of responsibility in the offensive lineup. In his recent game against the Houston Texans, the 23-year-old delivered an impressive performance, amassing 96 yards on 7 receptions. The Saints will be counting on similar productivity when they go head-to-head with the Colts.
Quarterback Derek Carr has thrown for over 300 yards in each of the Saints’ last two games. However, he also threw interceptions in both of those contests. To enhance their chances of winning, the Saints must minimize turnovers.
On the other side, the Colts are eager to rebound following a heartbreaking one-point loss to the Cleveland Browns. Despite outgaining the Browns by over 100 yards in total offense, the Colts committed three fumbles and surrendered an interception.
It appears that turnovers will be a critical factor in Sunday’s game for both teams. If New Orleans can protect the football and effectively contain the Colts’ offense, they stand a good chance of securing a victory.
Moreover, should Michael Thomas recover in time for the game, the Saints’ offense could receive a significant boost.
