Graham Alexander is noticing encouraging signs that his MK Dons team’s fortunes are on the upswing.
While his team played to a goalless draw against Walsall in their recent match, Alexander takes confidence from their dominant performance at the Poundland Bescot Stadium, suggesting that positive results are on the horizon.
After Tuesday’s game, Alexander expressed, “We sense that better outcomes are on the horizon. The players are satisfied with their performance tonight – we maintained a clean sheet, controlled the game, and believe that wins will come if we continue in this manner.”
He praised the players for their excellence, especially the solid defensive performance of the back three. Despite missing some good scoring opportunities, he emphasized the players’ commitment and effort, indicating that he values these aspects more than mistakes or missed chances.
Alexander acknowledged that they need to elevate their performance slightly to secure wins, recognizing that scoring goals can be the most challenging aspect of football. However, he remains confident in their attacking talent and believes that continued effort will lead to success.
One player who stood out was center-back Anthony Stewart, who had been substituted at halftime in a previous match but delivered an impressive performance against Walsall.
Alexander explained that he had substituted Stewart earlier because they were not defending much in that game, and Stewart’s passing skills could provide an additional attacking option.
He commended Stewart’s character and performance in the recent match, particularly his role in the solid back three that allowed the team to express themselves and create scoring opportunities.
